I love book clubs. In fact I host one each month at my house. They are a great way to meet new people and learn what they like to read. They are my greatest teachers when it comes to finding out what makes a good story and what doesn't. What I learned is that most women want a book to transport them to a different place and time. As readers they want to experience a life or situation different then their own. Often they want to learn something either about a culture, a family or themselves. Often while discussing a book someone will share their favorite quote or a passage that really made them think. Sometimes the conversation will drift to sharing how something in their personal life paralleled one of the character's. I think everyone in the book club grows a little closer to each other through our common connection with the books that we share.
